How does the Gifted Savings program work?

Gifted Savings is a non-profit that's piloting a simple and rewarding way for people to directly gift investment assets to young people in their community.

Through this pilot program, we hope to show how giving you real investments and the chance to learn about them firsthand can make a positive impact on your future.

How it works:

1. Claim your investment portfolio

Track your portfolio, tell us your plans and complete bite-sized lessons and activities to help you make the most of your investments.

3. Take control of your Investments

When you turn 18, we turn it all over to you to cash out, continue to hold, or decide what to do with!

Why Gift Investment Assets instead of Cash?

Investments are how people grow wealth, and we hope to show that by giving people some real skin in the investment game along with some education and time for investments to grow, we will create a much bigger impact than just giving cash, which loses buying power over time with inflation.

How can I join Gifted Savings and receive $1,000 worth of investments?

To gain access to the $1,000 in investments, recipients must:  

1. Be a current senior at Westbrook High School (2024-2025)
2. Sign up to receive Gifted Savings, which includes uploading a quick video, before Friday, September 20
3. Complete a survey at the beginning and end of the program

What can I do with the investment assets once I receive them?

Once you turn 18 and finish the school year, you can decide what to do with your investment assets. You can either keep them to grow over time or sell them to fund your goals.

Our challenge to you is to learn about investments and think intentionally about how you can use them to create the biggest positive impact for you or your community.

What if I don’t know anything about investing?

No worries! The program includes guided learning experiences and activities designed to teach you the basics of investing and help you make informed decisions.

How much time do I need to commit to the program?

Our program is designed to fit easily into your busy schedule. Every two weeks, you'll have a quick 15-minute activity to complete. You can go through the tasks at your own pace and fit them in whenever it works best for you throughout the school year.
