Who is eligible for the $1,000 Gifted Savings?

All seniors at Yellow Springs High School in Yellow Springs, OH.

How is the $1,000 invested?

Students receive a diversified portfolio split between stocks, bonds, bitcoin, and high-yield savings to help them learn about different asset classes.

Can students withdraw the money right away?

No — the funds are designed to grow over time. Students can access their investmentst when they turn 18 and complete a brief financial literacy program.

How does this benefit students?

It gives them a real stake in their financial future, teaches practical investing, and helps them start building wealth at a young age.

Why Yellow Springs?

Yellow Springs is a unique, tight-knit community known for its progressive spirit and commitment to equity. We were first introduced to Yellow Springs through our partnership with the University of Pennsylvania’s Center for Guaranteed Income Research (CGIR), which has a strong history of working with the community.

After a successful pilot program, we’ve continued our work here because of the strong local relationships, deep sense of trust, and shared belief in giving young people a real shot at financial freedom.
